Reuben's Revival

Reuben's Revival

It’s a random Tuesday morning, in the middle of summer. I come downstairs light a candle to set the tone for the day —zesty, fresh, alive. Outside, my nephew is already in the garden, a ball at his feet, determination in his stance.

He moves with wild energy, chasing, kicking, laughing. Hours go by and it’s like he just began. I watch as he stumbles, brushes himself off, and goes again. Resilient. Focused. Unstoppable. And just like that, I’m a child again—barefoot in the sun, chasing a ball, refusing to quit. The same fire, the same hunger.

As he lines up for another shot, I smile. He shoots, he scores and I reminisce on the days of my youth. Reminding myself that growing up doesn’t have to mean we loose the fun in life - it means finding new ways to enjoy it.
