For years, I was always buying candles and wax melts, trying different fragrances and lighting candles at the end of the day to relax and make my home feel calm and cosy. Candles were always part of my routine, whether I was winding down in the evening, reading, cleaning the house, or just taking a moment to switch off.

Everything changed when I decided to look into what candles were actually made from. I discovered that many large candle brands use paraffin wax and synthetic fragrance oils, which can release harmful toxins into the air when burned. I realised that something I was using almost every day in my home might not actually be that good for me or for the environment. That’s when I decided I wanted to create a better alternative — non-toxic candles made from natural ingredients that were safer to burn at home.

Storylight Candle Company was created to offer soy wax candles in the UK made with essential oils instead of synthetic fragrances. All of our candles are made using 100% soy wax, making them a cleaner and more environmentally friendly alternative to paraffin candles. Our essential oil candles are designed not only to smell beautiful but also to support wellbeing, relaxation, focus and mood through natural scent.

As the brand grew, I realised I wanted Storylight to be about more than just non-toxic candles. I wanted each candle to have meaning and to feel personal. That’s where the idea of story-led candles began.
